Autopilot vs. by design

The same week. Lived on purpose.

Same hours, same calendar. The difference is whether the week happens to you or for you.

Read the essay: Why your week runs you

A mock of the asambl desktop app showing the Calendar view, with a left navigation sidebar (Overview, Goals & Values, Plan Your Week, the life areas Health & Wellness, Finance, Relationships, Joy & Lifestyle and Mind & Growth, then Calendar, Inbox, Plans, Library, Ask asambl and Settings) and a right companion rail (Journal, Tasks, Reminders). One week, Monday 8 to Sunday 14 June, is shown two ways.

On autopilot, the weekdays are filled with work and only a few vague, easily-skipped placeholders (gym, drinks, errands, your mum's birthday, brunch, laundry), with large stretches of unplanned time.

By design, asambl drafts each of the following from goals you set, for you to approve or change. It keeps the same work hours and adds deliberate, reasoned commitments while leaving time protected and open:

  • Monday: Morning gym; Reading.
  • Tuesday: Date night with Sam (Sam is your priority relationship. Protected weekly time.).
  • Wednesday: Morning hike (Annual leave used for restoration, not errands.); Lunch with Priya.
  • Thursday: Dinner with Mum (Mum's birthday is this week. Surfaced from your relationships goal.).
  • Friday: Weekly reflection (Friday wind-down ritual you committed to in onboarding.); Bonobo at EartH (Your favourite artist is in town tonight.).
  • Saturday: Parkrun (Your 5k time has been creeping up. Saturday parkrun fits the goal.); Lunch with parents (Birthday week, so anchor a longer family lunch.).
  • Sunday: Tate Modern: new wing (You've been meaning to see this exhibit before it closes.).

Tap a dotted event to see asambl's reasoning.

That is one week. Different lives get different weeks. See the same planner run against four other sets of constraints: a doctor, a founder, a person with ADHD, or a new parent.

Composite examples, not real customers.

Inside the beta

Six areas. One loop that closes.

Pick a life area. Watch what you capture travel the loop asambl runs each week: noticed, shaped into blocks you approve, then carried into the next week.

Ten years from Sunday

The career you meant to build. (Work & Career)

One deliberate move a quarter, protected before the calendar fills.

Still first up the hill at sixty. (Health)

Three sessions a week that actually happen, for years.

Money quiet enough to forget about. (Finance)

One money hour a month. The surprises stop being surprises.

Date night, thirty years in. (Relationships)

Tuesday evening protected before work can take it. Every week.

Front row at seventy. (Joy)

Tickets booked the week they go on sale, not after.

Still curious at ninety. (Mind)

Twenty minutes of the slow work, most evenings.

One decade · 520 weeks

It compounds either way. Weeks you design stack into that life. Weeks on autopilot spend the same hours, just not on the things you love.

Private by design. In your control.

Everything you plan lives on your computer, in plain files you can open, copy, or take anywhere. When AI is on, only the question you ask is sent out to answer that request, and it isn’t kept.
