asambl/What is asambl?

What is asambl?

asambl is a private, whole-life weekly planner for macOS and Windows. Each week it drafts a plan across the parts of your life you choose, work, health, money, relationships, growth, and joy, from your priorities and the time you actually have. You review and approve it before anything reaches your calendar. An iPhone companion handles quick capture on the go.

What asambl is, and is not

It is

  • A private, whole-life weekly planner (with quarterly planning too)
  • A tool that drafts a week you review and approve, every time
  • A planner across six life areas, not just your work calendar
  • Yours on your own computer, as portable files you can open anywhere
  • A two-way sync with the Google Calendar you already use

It is not

  • Not primarily a notes app or second brain. It can hold and search your context, but its defining job is turning that context into a workable week
  • Not an autonomous scheduler: it never rebooks your calendar on its own
  • Not merely a chatbot or mobile companion. Ask asambl and the Companion support the planning system; they are not the product's centre of gravity
  • Not local-only or fully offline: your files are local, but drafting a plan uses a cloud AI you can switch off
  • Not a task manager or a to-do list app

How does asambl work?

asambl works as a weekly loop you stay in charge of. It notices the priorities and time you give it, drafts a realistic week for you to review, and carries what actually happened into the next plan.

  1. 1

    Notice

asambl reads the priorities, commitments, and personal context you choose to give it, and the time you actually have.

  2. 2

    Draft

It reconciles your chosen life areas into one realistic week, sequenced around your energy, with a Plan A, B, and C so you can plan by the day you actually have.

  3. 3

    Review

You accept, change, or reject every proposal. Nothing reaches your calendar until you approve it. This is true indefinitely; there is no autopilot.

  4. 4

    Live and learn

Your calendar reflects the approved week, and what actually happened carries forward with context, so the next week starts from reality.

What are asambl's six life areas?

asambl plans across six optional life areas: Work & Career, Health & Wellness, Finance, Relationships, Joy & Lifestyle, and Mind & Growth. Start with the ones that matter most and add the rest over time.

  • Work & Career
  • Health & Wellness
  • Finance
  • Relationships
  • Joy & Lifestyle
  • Mind & Growth

What platforms and calendars does asambl support?

asambl’s desktop app runs on macOS and Windows. An iPhone (iOS) companion (also a mobile web app) handles quick capture and a day and week glance. asambl syncs two-way with the single Google Calendar you choose and exports .ics anywhere; Apple Calendar and Outlook are on the roadmap.

How private is asambl?

asambl is local-first: the primary copy of your plans, notes, and files stays on your own computer as portable files you can open in any editor. It is not local-only or fully offline, though. When you use an AI feature, only the information needed for that specific request goes to asambl’s managed AI (hosted on Microsoft Azure) and is not stored long-term. Semantic search runs on your device, and AI has a real off switch. Drafting a plan is the one step that uses a cloud AI call, which is why asambl is not fully offline.

How does asambl compare to other planners?

Work schedulers like Motion, Reclaim, and Sunsama optimise your working day and auto-schedule or ritualise it. asambl plans your whole life and leaves the judgement to you. Knowledge tools like Obsidian and Notion help you remember; asambl turns what you know into a week. See the honest comparisons for where each is the better choice.
