asambl/Features/Calendar syncGoogle Calendar integration

Plan around the calendar you already live in.

Connect a single Google Calendar and asambl reads it for capacity, sends accepted blocks back, and stays in step every fifteen minutes. Your week stops being in two places at once.

02·The problem

Planning lives in one app.
Your week lives in another.

A plan that ignores your calendar isn't a plan. It's a wishlist.

If your weekly plan doesn't know about the meeting that ate Wednesday or the school pickup that bookends every Friday, it's just optimism on a page. Most planning tools either ignore the calendar or replace it. The first leaves a plan that doesn't fit your week. The second forces you to leave the calendar everyone else schedules against. Neither works for long. asambl chose two-way sync with Google Calendar so the plan you accept lives in the same place your team, your family, and the rest of your life already see.

03·What it is

Calendar sync is one of the three things the asambl beta ships on top of the planning loop.

Two-way Google Calendar sync, capacity-aware planning, opt-in connection.

i

Two-way Google Calendar sync

Existing events flow into asambl as fixed capacity. Accepted plans flow out as real Google Calendar events, color-coded by life area. Edits in either place reconcile every fifteen minutes.

ii

Capacity-aware planning

When the planner drafts a week, it respects what's already on your calendar. Free time is real free time. The plan stops fighting the rest of your life.

iii

Only the calendar you connect

asambl asks for the one calendar you pick. Not your contacts, not your other calendars, not anything else Google could share. Disconnect at any time and the link is gone.

How it works
in the app.

Connect once in Settings. Pick the calendar. The week view starts showing both sources in one place. Existing meetings appear as fixed blocks the planner has to plan around. Accepted drafts arrive in your real Google Calendar with a colour for the life area they came from. Edits flow either direction and reconcile within fifteen minutes.

One calendar, narrow connection, revoke whenever you want.
05·Integrations boundary

You grant the connection. You revoke the connection.

asambl asks for read/write access to one calendar, nothing else. The connection uses Google's standard sign-in. Google holds the access token, and you can revoke it at any time. Disconnect inside asambl and the events asambl created can be cleaned up in one click.

06·Common questions

About Calendar sync.

01

How often does it sync?

Every fifteen minutes in the background, plus immediately when you accept a plan or edit a block. You can also trigger a manual sync from the calendar view.

02

What if I edit an event in Google Calendar directly?

The change flows back into asambl on the next sync. The plan in asambl reflects the edit; the next planning loop sees the new state.

03

Can I connect more than one calendar?

Today, asambl pairs with one Google Calendar at a time. Multi-calendar support is on the roadmap. The single-calendar default keeps the connection minimal.

04

What about iCal, Outlook, or Apple Calendar?

Google Calendar is the first integration. Other providers will follow. In the meantime, you can export any week as .ics for any other calendar app.
